A protected coastal shrub from the South-Eastern Mediterranean, up to 60cm tall, forming a dense, hemispherical cushion with thorn-tipped woody stems and small shiny pinnate leaves. Purplish-red flowers bloom in late spring in short globular clusters, followed by abundant spherical fruits.
